A friend and I went in for lunch. Lovely decor. Very clean. Excellent service. Prompt and very friendly. I had the rainbow trout. It was AMAZING! My friend had the pot roast. Her comment was "I wish it wouldn't end-so good." We had mini carrot cakes and cinnamon ice cream for dessert. Perfect ending to a great meal. I will be back and would recommend to anyone. We had reservations which I would encourage. We were there on a Tuesday and the place really filled up.

Even on a rainy day, one can still find happiness when you step inside a place that serves great tasting food that will get your taste buds dancing with joy! The setting melts the troubles away and the peaceful dining experience was altogether terrific. Maybe sitting by the window watching the rain fall helped but that was the feeling I got dining here in the early evening. To start with, they offered some carrot humus which was quite tasty. I had a glass of Cabernet and ordered the dry rubbed & grilled Geisert farm pork chop with fresh baby spinach, mashed sweet potatoes and drizzled with some balsamic reduction. I wanted to try an appetizer but I wasn't too hungry so perhaps next time. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, I wanted it more done than how they normally would cook it but it didn't turn out tough or anything. The sweet mashed potatoes as well as the balsamic reduction complimented the flavor of the pork really well. After finishing my meal, I've saved just enough room for a slice of their vegan and gluten-free dark chocolate flourless cake drizzled with chocolate sauce and salted caramel. One word: Heaven! I wish I had taken a picture of such delicate perfection but I was too excited and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into some drizzled dark chocolate deliciously sinful goodness (it was that good that I don't even care if my description goes well together). The cake was moist and rich and I loved the salted caramel! Oh my... I might just come back for that alone. The service was wonderful as well and the place was well-kept. I can't wait to come back and try their other menu items or just for another slice of heaven.

Wonderful experience. Got a reservation for 11 (not easy) for a Friday at 730. Between us we ordered the majority of the menu and can honestly say that no one had a complaint about any dish. I couldn't recommend any restaurant more than Big Sky.

Had a really nice dinner here before the theatre! They were very busy, but the food was very good. Started with the crab cakes, dinner was a blue cheese burger & kale chips, dessert was peach bread pudding with caramel sauce.

Went for Sunday Brunch . Great crab cakes with poached eggs. My friend had the bacon and pecan pancakes. Both dishes excellent . My favorite time to go. Service very good. Will be back ! I like the brunch menu the best, but that is simply my preference of dishes that i like to eat.

The food is solid. I think the best thing I had was the side of mac and cheese. I'm a sucker for mac and cheese. The portions are small-ish for the price, but are tasty and definitely fresh! The reason why this place gets 3/5 from me is that I was hoping for more of a younger vibe than what I found at Big Sky Cafe. As a 20-something, I was at least 30 years younger than the vast majority of the other diners. There's nothing wrong with a restaurant having mostly older customers, but I hate being "the young person" in a restaurant.

Just celebrated our anniversary at Big Sky and everything was fantastic. A wonderful mix of flavors and outstanding service and atmosphere. They do such a great job at making "comfort food" uniquely flavored. Looking forward to our next visit.

I am so lucky when I come home to St. Louis to visit my family. I only get home about three to four times a year (mostly for big holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas), but every time I do, my mom will organize a really nice dinner out one evening at a restaurant she and my dad have found. This time when I was home, we went to Big Sky Cafe, a little place in Webster's Old Orchard district that they've been going to for years. I'd been told about how good it was, but never been myself, so I was excited to try it. We went the Friday night after Thanksgiving and arrived at the quaint little space Big Sky Cafe inhabits: it looks like a house with a big patio on the front, lots of potted plants, and a cozy interior sectioned off into little rooms for a more intimate feel. Very inviting. At the host stand we were greeted by the chef after a man who'd walked in tried to cajole himself a table for 10 in less than an hour (not happening that night, in case you wondered). We were quickly seated in a nice corner table against one wall and our waitress was with us quickly. She explained the prix fixe menu for the evening and then brought out water for the table. Even though every other table looked like they had a glass of wine, we decided to skip it that evening. After looking over the menu (everything looked great - it was hard to choose), which is locally sourced and changes based on the seasons, we knew what we were going to get. I ordered the rosemary red wine braised pot roast with gouda polenta, carrots, onions and celery. My mom ordered two smaller dishes: the PEI mussels and the butternut squash risotto with apples and pecans, and my dad got the 3-course prix fixe: tomato soup, a garden salad and the seafood cioppino. Since my mom has a gluten sensitivity, she mentioned this to the waitress when ordering and she was kind enough to bring out a bowl of chopped vegetables along with the crackers she delivered to the table with the house-made carrot hummus. I should also note that everything that is or can be made gluten free on the menu for Big Sky Cafe is noted. The hummus was really, really good. I've never had carrot-flavor before, but it was a good one. I also had a little bit of my dad's Ellie salad before my main entree arrived (his 3-course prix fixe had large portions), and the slightly sweet dressing was a nice change of pace. When my main course came, I was a little overwhelmed by the size: a very big piece of pot roast, well braised with vegetables and layered over the polenta (it was almost completely hidden by everything else). It was delicious too. Rich, hot and very flavorful. Unfortunately I couldn't quite finish the whole thing off (it was just too much after the hummus and salad), but it was very tasty. I really enjoyed my meal and my parents did too - they've yet to have a less than stellar experience there. It was a great evening out and the prices for main dishes (around $15-$20 for an entree) were very reasonable. Big Sky Cafe is a great restaurant and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a special place to dine in St. Louis. Well done!

Big Sky is close to home but I hadn't been in years. I've been there twice now in the last few weeks, once for brunch and once for dinner, and it's a new favorite! It's a definite hidden gem in the Old Orchard neighborhood of Webster Groves. There is a small patio for outdoor dining as well as a dining room inside. Both times I've been, I've gotten great service! This is a high point. I am addicted to the creamy tomato soup here. It's drizzled with pesto oil and has a slice of toasted bread floating in it. The soup is SO flavorful and delicious, and I love how the bread gets soggy with soup. I always save it for last. I have had it both times. For brunch, I ordered a peach bread pudding. It was flavorful but not warm, which was a bit odd. I found a hair in it and sent it back. They were very apologetic and took it off the bill. The second one also wasn't really warm. Not sure if this was purposeful or not. The dinner I had, I got the mac n cheese. WOW. Perfectly cooked pasta, a little spice from pepper. It's large and I shared with my other two dining partners. They had the burger and the beet salad, which was also good (got a bite). The drinks here are yummy too. They have good fruity cocktails and other offerings. The best thing? It is all local, sustainable, etc.... and not too expensive. Our dinner for 3 was only about $35. I'll be back!

We came here a year or so ago....Worth the try. It's nice to have experienced the food here. Intersting menu that's not your typical cookie cut dish. It takes time to look things over on the menu. But I can almost say it's probably all good. Vegetarian options, gluten free, and available gluten free. Very healthy home made American dishes. It's nice to know about this cuisine, it won't be my default restaurant of choice but it was fun, relaxing, great atmosphere and service. Oh and they have chops, lamp, trout, chicken. So you carnivores can indulge as well. The kale chips and homemade flat bread with carrot humus was excellent.

We went here for lunch (as it was lunch time). We were surprised by their tiny amount of lunch options (literally 3 menu items). They have a separate dinner menu you can't order from for lunch. So don't go there at lunch time. I ordered a lemonade and the waiter assumed I meant an alcoholic lemonade (weird assumption also I can't drink alcohol). Once we flagged him down it was switched out no problem. Our food was good but overpriced for the portion you get. Overall not a bad place but we won't be back.

Love this place so very much! Great for date night or just a neat little place to relax and have a lovely dinner. I couldn't choose between all the delicious looking items on the menu so my husband and I had a little bit of everything, and it was all amazing, from the butternut squash salad to the pot roast, mashed potatoes wowie zowie. Our server was excellent and very helpful, although, I'm sure he thought we were a couple of piggies by the end of the meal ;)

This was a great experience! The environment if fun and cute! I love that the food is local! The prices were incredibly reasonable for such good food. The server was helpful and the service was fast! There were 11 of us and everything came out hot and at the same time without mistake. The pot roast was incredible! It was full of flavor, rich and a perfect portion! I will return!

Had some great luck recently with trying new places that I was on the fence about, so before a friend's birthday in Webster we figured Big Sky was worth a shot. Unfortunately, things were disappointing all around. As we walked in, we felt a bit underdressed, as we were pretty casual with the unseasonably warm weather (jeans, t shirt, zip hoody jakcet). We didn't look like bums, but we were fairly casual. This isn't a complaint, more of an observation. But then I realized we were not just underdressed, but under the average age of the patrons by ~35 years. This wouldn't necessary be a bad sign, as the restaurant was mostly full, but it was just odd that the average age of folks having dinner was ~65. In my head, I immediately thought, "Uh-oh, lots of elderly folks might suggest bland food!" but still hoped for the best. **SHOULD HAVE RECOGNIZED THE FORESHADOWING** My guess is that it is the biggest post-theater spot or something, as it seemed like the restaurant cleared out all at once around 9:30pm. Service was good, well, maybe not good, but certainly not bad. It was exceedingly average. Outstandingly mediocre. Just kinda existing, but not good nor bad enough to talk about. **MORE FORESHADOWING** It was fine, but kind of awkward, in a difficult-to-describe way. It was as if the waiter was whispering and could barely be heard over the semi-noisy dining room. He brought out some pretty solid hummus, which we ate quickly (we were super hungry) and enjoyed. The menu looked really great, and because the small plates/apps sounded so good we ended up going with the beet salad, grilled cauliflower, mushroom bruschetta, and mac and cheese w/ bacon. The waiter did say that would be plenty of food for us when we asked, and I appreciated his honesty! I have to say, the beet salad came out first, and it was pretty good! Not as many beets as I prefer, but we really did enjoy it. Then came the next three plates. Everything was...ok. Well, the mac and cheese was decent. A bit salty. A bit bland. The mushroom bruschetta had good mushrooms, but it was slapped onto a soggy, single chunk of bread. My second favorite dish, though. The grilled cauliflower on roasted red pepper sauce was....terrible. Embarrassing even. It was cauliflower sprinkled with parmesan cheese without any other seasoning, maybe broiled for a minute and dropped in a very bland orange roasted red pepper sauce on the plate. Really bummed about this one because I have had some killer cauliflower dishes in my time. It was terrible not because it tasted bad, but because it was more or less tasteless - like a non-entity. The mac and cheese wasn't bad, but it was just kind of bland. We were starving when we got there, so as we filled up, we liked the dishes less and less. Maybe we just did it wrong? Maybe the best dishes were the higher priced entrees and it was our fault for ordering four side dishes/small plates instead which were not intended to be the stars of the show? I dunno. Maybe we missed out on the blue plate special? Hell - I dunno. I guess the experience was summed up when we were asked twice by a second server if we wanted her to box up the couple pieces of cauliflower left and maybe 2 macaroni noodles. What? No. It was nice of her to ask, but I have watched way too many episodes of Hell's Kitchen not to realize that older folks are often associated with two things - 1) Bland food, 2) Doggy bags. Yep. That sure rang true. Price was ok, since I got an almost $7 bottle of beer too, but we ended up spending almost $50 with tip, for not a whole lot of pretty bland food. Unfortunately, I can't recommend Big Sky, even though based on the reviews/menu I really expected to love it.

I love this place! All local ingredients and everything is made in house. Part of their menu is set and part changes based on the season. On the set menu they have a Blue Cheese burger that is to die for! The patty is seasoned well and they actually put enough toppings on ( I hate when restaurants skimp in burger toppings). If you come during Happy hour, the burger is half price! What a deal for grass-fed beef!! And for dessert I'd absolutely recommend the Carrot Cupcakes - the cake is moist and has a hint of ginger and the icing is thick and smooth. The seasonal choices are always fun to try - I haven't always fallen in love with everything, but you can hit upon some real gems. I personal wasn't much for their Caramel Pecan Ice cream, but the seasonal roasted Root Veggies were amazing! Check it out!

Food quality is top notch! As a nutrition and wellness counselor I LOVE and respect my food, and can tell when others prepare food with the same passion. This place is definitely a great place to have a nourishing meal, and at such reasonable prices. I would definitely eat here again and highly recommend the place to anyone who wants to eat lovingly prepared and locally sourced food. The only downside I can say is that the service staff seemed so concentrated on presentation of the food that they almost seemed pretentious.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I hadn't been here in ages (a year or more) and I don't know that I'll hurry back. 4 of us were there on a recent Tuesday night. We each two small plates--salads, deviled eggs, beet soup. I had the beet soup which was fantastic and the rest of my party seemed to enjoy their first course. Then, 3 of us had the New Orleans style shrimp small plate. We were warned that it was spicy, which was not a problem at all. However, rather than a good New Orleans spice, it was very bitter--no heat or sweetness, just strong bitter (coffee?) flavor. Service was so-so.

This place could be great because the food is excellent. However, the all male staff that we dealt with was very stuffy and sulky. The maitre d'/head waiter gave us sour puss greeting once he finally decided to say hello. Bartender- nice greeting after he finally acknowledged us. Needs some mixology skills though. He just poured our drinks into the glass. No mixing, no shaking, no stirring, just vodka on bottom with lemonade on top. Nice. Our waiter (another sour puss) kept rushing us between frowns. "Ready to order yet?!" The whole atmosphere reminded me of that Brooklyn hipster attitude; like they were doing us a big favor by allowing us to dine in their establishment. This all took place on a Tuesday night and it was less than busy. I'd heard about Big Sky Cafe for years and was excited to try it. Maybe I caught them on a bad night but I will not be going back.

This place is comfortable and has lots of outdoor seating, which is nice. The food is very good, but I'm still trying to decide if it justifies the much higher price. For lunch, I had a side of kale chips, a lunch trout, and a diet coke for about $25 after tip. For brunch, I had 2 courses, which were delicious, but were quite small for $17pp, so for 2 people, around $40 after tip. Kale chips were like flash-fried spinach, only with the slight bitter taste the kale lends to it. I shared most of it. (~$3) Lunch trout was very good, skin-on, over some arugula I think. (~$12-13?) The carrot cake mini-cupcakes were delicious!!! You get 3 little guys. For brunch, the brie and fruit was AWESOME! I would definitely get this again. For 2nd course brunch, the tenderloin with eggs had a tiny little piece of steak and was mostly eggs. I'll admit it tasted awesome, but the serving size on the tenderloin was so small. Sodas are expensive at $3.

Great Service (Melissa) provided helpful tips. Food was great - fresh ingredients. Kale was delicious and the humus was tasty as well and I don't usually eat any of that stuff as it looks weird and has a stupid name. But was good to my surprise. Had the fish/mussels/shrimp in a broth soup whatever it is they call it and it was delicious. My accompanying babe had the pecan catfish and said it was the best she's had. So there you go...

The service is terrific. The food is tasty and fresh. And the menu changes weekly! With one glass of wine each, the three of us spent over $120. It is not a place to go if you are hungry or concerned with getting a balanced meal--you will have to forget the weight loss diet to eat here. But it is a place for foodies, for those who like to savor the taste of finely herbed and dressed foods. YUM.

Hubby and I were road tripping and couldn't stand the sight of any more fast food. So, as we approached St. Louis around brunch time on Sunday morning, I hopped on Yelp and found this healthy gem. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to fit us in. We ordered more savory lunch items; I got the trout with spinach, tomato, and goat cheese and hubby ordered the BLT with potatoes, which were both very tasty. For people who expect Cheesecake Factory portions, you will be disappointed. The portion is perfect just for one meal. Don't forget to order their iced teas, lemonades, or a combo of both. They can add ginger or basil to your beverage, which gives it an even fresher flavor. Overall, delicious food, reasonable price, and good service. I would swing by frequently if I lived in the neighborhood.

So rude and unhelpful, the food was alright but I wouldn't put up with the people for the food at all. Pity because I love their mission and so close to where I live.

Went for dinner on a Friday night and was completely satisfied with the overall experience. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection and the service was phenomenal. Some would say that they are a little expensive but they really are not. The menu is fun and intriguing. Would recommend Big Sky to anyone.

We came here after seeing that Sauce had featured Big Sky Cafe in their top brunch spots, and I'm sorry to say it was not worth it. We ordered bloody marys which were incredibly disappointing. The tomato juice tasted like it had been cut with something, some kind of fruit juice maybe, resulting in a watery mix. There was very little spice, or really any other flavors to it. They were served in white wine glasses with a cocktail straw, celery stalk, lime wedge, and olive skewer. It was pretty impossible to drink it without removing half of those, and I didn't appreciate paying for what I thought would be a full glass when we got what amounted to about half because of the wine glass. We started with the House-Cured Salmon Roll Ups, which were the highlight of my meal and I would recommend. Although, the runner who brought it to the table neglected to bring small plates with it, she said she would be back with them but they never appeared. My husband got the Scrambled Eggs & Rosemary Red Wine Braised Pot Roast which he enjoyed. We ordered our son pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were light and fluffy, the bacon was thick-cut and fine (but nothing that will blow your mind), but I was very surprised that the syrup was not maple syrup, but the sugary corn syrup based type that you'll find in diners. I'd be curious to see how they locally sourced that one... I ordered the Crabby Eggs Florentine and when it arrived it was cold and had to be sent back. It was described as biscuits topped with poached eggs, baby spinach, local tomatoes & lump crab hollandaise with breakfast potatoes. Maybe I misinterpreted this, but I expected there would be a generous portion of crab. There was not. I think what was mixed in with the hollandaise amounted to maybe a tablespoon, and I couldn't really taste it. The tomato, on the other hand, was a little too generous, and 100% raw. The spinach was raw as well. So, I felt like I was basically eating a salad with poached eggs (slightly overcooked at that) on top. The biscuits were not light and fluffy, but dense and forgettable. There was a serious lack of flavor overall. I will say the breakfast potatoes, which were a mix of russet and sweet potatoes, were nicely done. After tip this was a $75 brunch, which was absolutely not worth it. I would have much rather spent that at Pastaria or Brasserie or Home Wine Kitchen, all of which would have been worth the money. Even if this place was more reasonable priced, I would rather go to Melt or Southwest Diner.

Slamon burger with kale chips beet soup, truffled pears and pork On my second visit to Big Sky Cafe, I had another delicious, amazingly original meal. I ordered the beet soup and the truffled pears and pork. The soup was smooth and citrus-tangy. It was served chilled and had a beautifully vivid hue. It had a bright, clean taste. The truffled pears and pork were tender and very strongly peppery and flavorful. The truffle aroma and flavor really permeated every bite. The pears were firm, not too sweet. My boyfriend ordered the salmon burger and kale chips and he loved them. The menu here is truly one of a kind, with lots of varieties. I wish I could try all the small plates at once! I adore the colorful eclectic interior. If you can, try to ask to sit in the back patio. It's a lush, shady enclosure.

I love the focus on locally-sourced ingredients, and the healthy menu compared to most places in the St. Louis area. You feel good coming here because the management/owners seem to be very socially concious. Now for the food: I have the feeling that 90% of the menu is awesome, and 10% is a flop. I can only speak to what I ordered - the crab cakes (which were wonderful, if a bit heavy) and the coconut curry butternut squash soup (which needs to be taken off the menu, as it lacks almost any flavor and has the consistency of water). The only problem with this place: the service was so-so; friendly people and atmosphere, the waitress knew to ask me how my food was, but really didn't handle it very well. She did say she would mention it to the chef, however most places would offer to exchange the dish or strike it off. I would have happily paid for something else if she offered to strike the soup. I'd say definitely check this place out, I'm confident most of the dishes are great, and it's good quality stuff. It would be 5 stars if not for the service, since most great restaurants will have a few dishes which aren't good.

The best crab cakes WE have ever tasted! Squash Bread Pudding was unbelievably delicious! It's not a dessert & we ate it with our meal. Soooo good! The chef is top notch & visited our table a couple of times. We are dying to go back already! The chef was superb! Highly recommended!

I feel like we finally found the place for us! their care to local, quality, responsible food means everything to us. The proof is in the flavor! NOLA BBQ shrimp, pot roast, ozark mushroom bruchetta ...I could go on and on. Don't pass up desert! Take it home if you have to! now if we could only talk him into those kitchen demonstrations....

Big Sky is a great place in Webster for a nice date night evening. My friend and I went just before StL Opera Theater and it was walkable distance, which was really nice. We shared the kale chips and the tomato salad and bother were great. The kale chips were cooked just right, crunchy but not over done. I had the ciappino - and it was wonderful. The portions are just the right size. The chunky tomatoes really added to the white wine sauce. The mussels, shrimps and salmon were all very fresh and tasty. My friend had the chicken and it was also delicious, especially the sweet potato mashers. Yum. I will be back to try many more yummy things on the menu. Not to mention Webster is a great place to explore on the weekends.

We have been here a few times for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. Pretty reliable restaurant, but we were very disappointed in our brunch. The eggs Benedict were not good (eggs weren't runny, biscuit not good, smoked salmon not good) and my wife's eggs were way too peppery. We'll stick with dinner.

I probably read about Big Sky nearly 20 years ago in Zagat's. I took Ms T to The Rep for some Sense and Sensibility so we had early dinner at Big Sky. It is a nice place with an intimate feeling. We took a bottle of wine. Corkage is $15. We really did not want to have big heavy meals so each had soup, shared a salad and then had a small plate. The soup was a thick potato and kale soup. It was good, simple and warming. We both liked it. I would have liked a wedge of lemon to squeeze a little to wake it up. The salad was the roasted beet and field green salad. I was expecting a lot of beets with some greens. It was kind of the reverse, there were just 2-3 slices of beets with mostly baby greens. The salad was OK, but Ms T objected to the very butyric goat cheese so I had most of it. For small plates, I had duck and pasta. The pasta was coated with a creamy roasted red pepper which was good. The duck, however was overdone, chewy and frankly did not taste like much of anything. Ms T had better luck with the shrimp and grits. They were oily, but well flavored and the gouda grits were very good. Based on one visit, Big Sky is close to being a very good restaurant, but misses about as much as it hits. It is certainly worth another try. Maybe it won't take us another 20 years. Strong three stars.

I have been here many times before and generally am satisfied but while the service was fine last night the meal was not. I ordered the pork chop. When it came it looked delicious and it was huge. Unfortunately, it was mainly fat. There was very little real meat. Took most of it home and gave it to the dog.

Five of us enjoyed a leisurely, delicious lunch and everyone was pleased with her choice from the salmon burger, to the eggplant lasagna and the grilled cheese/tomato soup. Big Sky's basil lemonade and ginger tea/lemonade are refreshing spring drinks. Phil, our server, took stellar care of us. Wish I could have talked my lunch mates into a taste of dessert (like the mini carrot cake cupcakes) but they were pleasantly satisfied. I love that this restaurant has a serene setting with whimsical touches of decor. Big Sky's been a favorite for quite some time.

Big Sky is ON POINT. Their vegetables are so, so good, and they find fresh and interesting ways to prepare the veggies. I had dinner here with my dad and brother, who has the taste buds of a 5 year old, and even he could not help but devour his green beans - that is a sight I literally never imagined I would see. We had the joy to dine on their lovely outdoor patio. I would highly recommend stopping by Big Sky on a nice evening as the ambiance of their patio really added to our meal!

I came here for my 30th birthday and everything was great! I had the salmon burger with the kale chips, and then they brought out some birthday cupcakes with the BEST ICICNG I'VE EVER HAD. I like the atmosphere of this place as well - overall, a great experience!

You'd have a hard time being disappointed here. WIth clients and colleague, we grazed the small plates. Mussels... puhleeze! REALLY good. Beet and goat cheese salad. My beets are better... so skip this one. Calamari was done perfectly. Scallops were also perfection. Corn muffins and crackers were given and delicious as well. And folks, I rant all the time that it is about the FOOD! But, if atmosphere is that important to you, this is a nice place with excellent lighting and good outdoor space. No smoking is good, too. Plus, the place is kinda tucked into a little street and trapped against I-44. If you can find straight away that is probably a good sign, because the food will not ruin the night.

Cute place! A little hard to find and easy to miss. Low key with a homey atmosphere that's great for socializing and family outings. The hummus and bread to start is delicious and the food is fresh and local. I ordered the halibut and the fruity wine flight which was all delicious! I could have just ate that hummus ALL night long! I would go back just for the hummus but the halibut was yummy as well, very tender! The waiter was a little interesting and wasn't the most attentive to me but then again I always get that when I'm eating alone.

We had dinner here this evening (3rd time we have visited over a 5 year period), and once again, it was okay. My salmon was good, and my husband had the pork tenderloin. We both agreed, it was "ok", but not worth coming back. Service, on the other hand, was excellent.

I really love this place. Priced just right for the quality of food you get. The only downside is that the ever changing menu can make it hard to find something to fall head over heels with. But, when you find that right dish, make the trip. It'll be worth it.

For what ever reason, I think of this place as a hidden gem even though it is popular and has been around for a long time. But the food is awesome. I have been there for lunch and dinner and it always exceeds my expectations. Last time I was there, I had the kale chips and BLT. Both were excellent.

Big Sky was very good. The pot roast, a specialty of the house, is not to be missed. My companion's trout was delicious. Coffee was excellent, and service friendly and skillful. If you're anywhere near here and in the mood for a meal, you can't go wrong!

How have I missed this place for over 2 years?! First, I Open Tabled the wrong place (sorry, Blue Sky Grill) but luckily the friend we were dining with knew what was going on. The place was packed on a Saturday night so we ate at the bar. I had the red wine flight which was wonderful with generous pours and a detailing tasting card. We also had the cheese plate and mussels to start. The cheeses came with honey, almonds, pears and toast points. They were all very good! The mussels were amazing! The broth had a smoky almost sausage taste to it with the perfect balance of garlic. Had I not had guests with me I would have eaten it like a soup, it was that good. For our main course I had the Beef Tenderloin Filet with Green Peppercorn Butter. YUM! Cooked perfectly with whipped mashed potatoes. It was a sizable portion and delicate in peppercorn flavor, not overwhelming which I appreciate. Desert was a caramel walnut apple pie that was fantastic. Not slap you in the face sugar sweet, but caramel sweet. I can't wait to go back and try more!

This place is awesome - it's everything a restaurant should be! The staff is friendly and accommodating of dietary restrictions. The food is all locally sourced and naturally raised. The dishes were light yet very flavorful - the perfect combination for a late Sunday brunch. All in all, we enjoyed every bite and highly recommend it.

Not a bad little place. Sean H. and I wandered in the other night since it's been on my "to try" list for a long time now. We were waiting a while to be seated. No fewer than three employees ran past us with an exasperated "someone will be right with you!!"....so I was a little worried service would be slow/rushed but it wasn't! Our server, Phil, was pretty awesome. He warned us about all of the special variations of the sauces/foods/drinks they do. Sean and I greatly appreciate that as I have issues...uh...digesting spicy food, and he is just straight up picky. He opted for a bacon cheeseburger. It came with "kale chips" which is basically just kale but kind of dry and crunchy with some kinda cheese stuff on top. He described it as "vegetation" and neither of us liked it though I thought the texture was rather creative. I ordered the pistachio encrusted scallops which were amazingly tasty with an orange-y sauce on top. I also ordered the trout and it was really good. Oddly enough the goat cheese went really well with it. I was worried the flavors might be too weird. The trout was on top of a bed of lettuce with sauce on it so it was more like salad + dressing + giant chunk of fish but it was really good. My only complaint overall is that we only got one bottle of water and it went fast and we never got another. Food didn't take long to come out. Also tried the cheapest cab wine and it was very good at $5.50. I'd like to come back here and try other items on the menu but I have so many other places I want to try too....but I did love the atmosphere...super cozy. I only wish I hadn't left my to-go box on the table. ;___; *sniff*

The fact that it's connected to an assisted living facility was a little strange at first, but once you're in the restaurant the atmosphere is cozy. They broke up our 15-person group into two tables next to each other, which wasn't ideal but not terrible. The menu focuses on local and organic ingredients, with several gluten-free dishes and a handful of seasonal items. I choose a few small plates for my entrée. The house-cured salmon on zucchini cakes with goat cheese basil mousse was delicious; however, the pan-seared sea scallops with roasted tomatoes, bacon and artichoke broth didn't thrill me, I found it bland. The rosemary and red wine braised pot roast - one of their most popular staples, our server explained - tasted "exactly like pot roast should taste" according to the diner in our party that ordered it. Our table sampled the kale chips (done well, not too greasy), and the roasted Brussels sprouts (a little hard for my liking but still tasty). My favorite part of the meal hands down was the house-made cinnamon ice cream. Best dessert I've had in a long time. Get the ice cream! Our server was attentive without being overbearing and handled our large party masterfully. Drinks didn't go dry and the pacing of the meal was perfect. She was clearly a professional and I was impressed with the service from start to finish.

This place lives up to the hype on Yelp. Wonderful food, location and service. We were here on a Sunday for breakfast (now serving breakfast there - yay!) and sat on the beautiful patio to enjoy the weather. I'm a huge fan of sitting outside when it's nice, so that was a huge plus. Our waitress was extremely nice and accomodating - she is also in charge of the special events there. We had their Big Sky Bloody Mary and their special heirloom Bloody Mary and both were good, but sized a little small for the price in my opinion. The heirloom Bloody had a really interesting taste to it, I thought it was unique. I had the Steak and Scrambled Farmer's Egg breakfast platter and it was delicious. For me, it was a little outside the box and I'm glad I tried it. The smoked gouda cheese on the dish absolutely made the meal. Fantastic. I heard nothing but rave reviews on the omelets and the Big Sky BLT so I'm sure no matter what you decide on, it will be pure deliciousness. We ended up ordering a bottle of wine and staying through the early afternoon because we had such a great time. I'm beyond excited to try them out for lunch or dinner. Do not leave this one off of your list to check out!

Great service and awesome food. I came for brunch and had a great time. The salmon starter was delicious. My date had the blueberry pancakes and bacon. I had the crab eggs Benedict. Delicious. Excellent wine selection. Great server. I can't wait to go back.

We recently ate here on our trip across the United States it was okay and I do say ok., but I will warn you if you're from the West Coast AM coming here you'll be slightly disappointed they really don't know how to cook seafood but they give it a good effort after all it is the Midwest

My friend was dressed better than usual and wanted to go to a" nicer than usual, but not too nice" place for dinner, so I yelped it quickly and decided on this place. For anyone confused, yes it's right next to a retirement home. When we arrived, we were a little confused as to where the front door to the restaurant was. There were large glass windows where you could see inside; the back building had elderly people chatting over a nice cup of tea while the front building had people laughing in a more decorated environment. With some deductive reasoning, we chose to go to the front building and found out (Correctly!) that the front door to the restaurant was actually facing towards the street, NOT the parking lot. Just FYI :) Décor: It's comfortably decorated, with a brightly colored and a tasteful choice of mosaics as a design theme throughout the restaurant. There's a bar area to the right when you enter and then the more intimate, nicely lit seating part of the area to your left. It's a decently-sized restaurant and we went pretty late on a Friday night, yet it was mostly full. Good sign :) Service: Our waiter was very friendly and patient. He described the dishes eloquently and gave good recommendations. No complaints here, thanks! Food: We started off with the Mushroom Bruschetta- while tasty, it didn't blow me out of the water. But it was light and pleasant to start off with. I guess I was just expecting more out of it after reading other reviews, but the sauce is very simple, with a little bit of a vinaigrette drizzled on top. As for the bread they used, I'm pretty sure, was garlic bread. And then you have your light layer of mushrooms. A decent take on a bruschetta, if any, but nothing incredibly special. For my main dish, I wanted some meat, so I chose the Dijon Braised Heritage Acres Pork Shoulder- oh, it was so delicious! The pork was tender and full of flavor, the Brussels sprouts also were tender and not bitter by any means. There were also these tiny whole garlic (at least, I think they were garlic) that were kind of mushy due to the braising and was colored differently because of the sauce. Just trust me, it's good! My friend got the Pan-Roasted Troutdale Farms Rainbow Trout, which was plated absolutely beautifully and he really liked his dish (though if you ask me, I think my dish tasted better :P) hehehe. Oh, and for dessert, we got their (homemade/restaurant-made!) ice cream! SO GOOD :) Overall: I'm sooo in love with this place. I was shocked that they were owned by the same people as Remy's, because although I saw a bit of similarity between the two, I thought Big Sky blew Remy's out of the water! I'm definitely coming back when "I'm nicely dressed, but not fancy-dressed." :)

Came here for my anniversary. When I made the reservation they asked about special events and I mentioned it was the big day so they congratulated me and when I got to the restaurant they had a glass of champagne waiting for us, a nice touch. I liked how the menu had both classic items and seasonal items. I jumped on the (pear?) tamarind sangria and it was very delicious. My husband and I both stuck with classic dishes for this night. My pot roast was perfect, the wine really jumped it up a notch. My husband had the beef tenderloin and I could hardly convince him to let me steal a bite but I'm glad he caved in the end. We split a cherry crisp for dessert based on all the Yelp reviews. Don't get me wrong, it was good but the main dishes were so awesome they outshone the dessert course. I can't wait to convert more friends and family to fans of this delicious restaurant.

Great menu Gluten free options Soups Sandwiches Salads Lunch plates Much is locally/Missouri grown Interior Decor is warm comfortable and inviting, esp right for Fall and winter. The have a nice looking patio for warmer seasons inside temp on the chilly side. Noticed no one else in restaurant removed jackets and sweaters during their meals. I wore my coat during my meal. I had cup of tomato soup Grilled basil jack cheese with green tomato sandwich, which came with very nice side salad lettuce greens. For dessert I tried the carrot cake minis. All was excellent in flavor, volume, and presentation. The only negative was the wait staff. Of the two young ladies working one was quite bad; the kind of bad that one wants to say to her: have you considered a different career? one that doesn't serve others and doesn't depend on customers to survive in any way shape or form? If it weren't for the wait staff part of my experience, this would be my new favorite place.

Father's Day weekend, date night, I decided that I wanted to give this place another chance. My wife and I love Remy's and loved Blue Water Grill. We figured this sister restaurant should be a natural fit for us. Last night it fell short. Although the beet salad, scallops, BBQ Shrimp and mushroom bruscetta were delicious and beautifully presented, the sauce for the mussels was very salty. My wife graciously said that it must have been from the bottom of the pan. I also had concerns about our service. Although attentive, when our waiter arrived at our table he smelled of cigarette smoke, which was unappetizing.

Loved the decoration and the atmosphere, but the food didn't taste as great as it looked. I was fine with my dishes, but my friends not so much. The burger was apparently not too tasty. We went for a friend's birthday party. When we were finishing up our food, the waiter came out with a cupcake for the birthday girl. No one had asked for it so we were all like "cool! that's so nice so nice of them!" That is until we went up to pay for the party, and they actually charged us for the cupcake ($5 I think..). I mean, it wasn't a big deal, but the fact that they charged us for something we didn't even ask for was kind of ridiculous. The lights in the garden are beautiful at night!

We came here a while back with a friend and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Being a busy Saturday night we were lucky enough to grab a seat at the bar. I started off with the red wine flight, good pours and a detailed tasting card. My only issue was that for my flight of wine, I want to say 2 of the 3 wines were a Cabernet. Maybe I'm being nitpicky but that bothered me a bit. We started off with a cheese plate that had four or five cheeses, almonds, honey and pears. This went down quite easily. The next appetizer we had were the muscles in a garlic broth. These were the best part of the night, if you like mussles you have to try these. A very light hint of smoke in the mussle and the garlic broth was perfect. For our main course we shared the Beef Tenderloin Filet. This was cooked perfectly and was a great cut of meat. It was tender and the green pepercorn butter that came with it was very good. The pepercorn didn't overpower as it sometimes can and the mashed potatoes were whipped to perfection. Everything we had here was great and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to go back.

BIg Sky is kind of obscure. Nobody really ever talks about it, but everyone seems to know it exists. This, combined with their fantastic looking menu enticed me enough to go. Started off with the Watermelon-ginger sangria. At first taste, i was not sure if i liked it. But several more sips and i was sold! I didn't taste much ginger but it did have a strong melon taste...maybe midori? It was very light and perfect for a hot day. Okay, so the worst part of this meal was figuring out what to eat!!! So much looked amazing. I started with the Farmers Sprout salad. I tend to shy away from ordering salads because i eat them so much and they are really easy to make at home but Big Sky commits to local produce and the salad sounded delish - and it was. But it would have been PERFECT if it had a bit of sea salt sprinkled over top the eggplant that was in the dish. But, i'm just being picky cause it was darn good. For my next course i went with the Smoked Trout Croquettes. I just adore smoked trout so i new i needed to eat this. When thinking of Croquettes - I typically think of a fried food. The server seemed to anticipate this and let me know the dish was not fried and was served cold. I went for it anyway, after all its hot as hell outside! Um, so yeah...it was basically amazing. The croquettes looked kinda small and sad at first but after polishing off the dish i was extra full! They were served over a bed of raw spinach, perfectly cooked asparagus and topped with a horseradish creme sauce and...pickled onions. The pickled onions were so good and added the perfect sour/sweetness to the dish. Well done! I would most definitely eat this again, and in fact i am going to try to recreate this dish myself. Service was great, and they have a super cute patio..way too hot today but on nicer evening i wold love to go out there and have a glass of that sangria. I want to try more of what they have to offer, as i didn't even make a dent in their fantastic looking menu.

I've been to Big Sky twice now, and had a great experience both times. Our waiter took the time to explain that the left column in the menu are there regular items and the right side are there current specials which change frequently. He also asked us if we had somewhere we needed be...then said they get a big theater crowd and if we had tickets somewhere at a certain time he would be sure to get us out on time. How thoughtful! I ordered the beef tenderloin fillet. Yum! The plate was beautiful, the steak was good and the side dishes were really tasty (garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli & cauliflower. Everything was drizzled with balsamic vinegar...which of course brought it over the top. My date had the pork chop with mashed sweet potatoes and was really impressed. Last time I was there I ordered a special with chantrell mushrooms. It was good but the beef was better. Plus the ambiance is fabulous. Cozy and welcoming, with mosaic art and folk art throughout. I need to go back with the weather is nice and sit on the patio for sure. Very romantic! They don't have their own parking lot, but they are just 2 doors down from a strip mall with plenty of parking, so it's not an issue.

I took my father here for his birthday and our meals were simply perfect. We ordered a cheese plate for an appetizer, a few sides and two entrees. My entree was a braised pork shoulder while my dad ordered the trout. Both were cooked perfectly. The sides were good, but nothing really stood out. Service was great and the place is really cozy.

Love love love Big Sky and have for years! The pot roast is my go-to when I'm feeling like I need some comfort, but I've tried near all of the menu and have yet to have anything I disliked! Servers are very attentive, the wine list is so much fun (LOVE the wine flights!), and the food is downright amazing. Try to save room for dessert. It can be nearly impossible to save the room, but it is WORTH IT.

Obviously food is the most important part of a restaurant, and Big Sky deserves 5 stars for their food! Everything I tasted was absolutely delicious. We came for lunch. We started with soup. I had the tomato and my sister had the split pea. They were both hot and delicious and came out quickly! We moved on to salad. I got the autumn chopped salad and my sis got the apple cranberry salad. They were both so fresh and full of flavor. The whole time we were eating we commented on how fresh and mostly healthy everything is there! We also got the kale chips. Definite wow factor. You can taste the nutrients!! Maybe it was just such a gloomy day and Big Sky has lots of windows that made me feel like the atmosphere wasn't so inviting, but I definitely expected it to be much fancier. I deduct a star. None the less, I'm there for the food, and it's fabulous, so I will be back!

Well, well, well. What a nice surprise this place was! After being turned away from Llywelyn's Pub because they were "too busy", I quickly Yelped a place in the area. Blue Sky Cafe sounded like a winner, so we turned around and headed here. While at first we were a little irritated, as even from reading the reviews, I didn't get the feeling this was a more "upscale" place, and we were dressed more down to go get a burger and a beer, we had a great time! With initial sticker shock over (overall though, the prices really aren't bad, we just hadn't planned to go to a nicer place), we picked out a few of the starters an an entree to share. Grilled beef tenderloin kabobs with Spanish rice, crab cakes, and the wild mushroom risotto. Holy shit, everything was fantastic. The crab cakes had a surprising amount of crab in them, not all filler breadcrumbs or rice like many other places. The steak seriously made me wet my pants a little, it was that succulent. The risotto was more than enough to share, with lots of mushrooms, and a wonderful goat cheese topping. Thanks to Yelp for helping us find this place, as it really is tucked away from the main drag(s) in Webster Groves. We're excited to plan a second trip - this time dressed a little nicer, and ready to enjoy some wine, as well.

I love this place. Beautiful decor but doesn't feel pretentious. Spacious inside and the patios are lovely. And the food...what a pleasant surprise! We started with the kale chips and the wild mushroom bruschetta. I swear, I'd go back for the bruschetta alone. It was excellent. For entrees, my husband got the trout and I got a special NOLA style tempeh. Both were very tasty. The trout especially was fresh and summery. For dessert, the bread pudding....YUM! My husband doesn't usually dive into dessert but that bread pudding was gone in a hot second. This is a wonderful restaurant a bit off the beaten path. I'm so happy we gave it a try, I can see it becoming one of our favorites.

Service was prompt and friendly, not intrusive. Lamb special and filet were both superb. Cornbread muffins worked better than flat bread for us. Chocolate bread pudding loses points for being served cold (by design); pecan apple pie made up for it. Try the wine flights for a tasty bargain! $14 for 3 half glasses. Coming back with a larger group next Sunday, including an 8-year old. Early. Update for second visit: consistently good. Tried a house specialty, the O Ginger Manhattan. Nice before dinner, nice with dessert. The spinach salad with dried cherries had a great balance of sweet and green flavors, and the Andouille sausage from locally sourced pork on fried polenta a lovely small plate (which I had as an entree, saving room for dessert). The carrot cake cupcakes with whole pecans and cream cheese frosting were the perfect topper to the meal. For this sort of restaurant: nice, not stuffy, good for couples, good for small groups, even good for older kids (early), I couldn't ask for anything more.

Big Sky has something for everyone. They have wonderful, fresh food and a great wine selection. We took my parents to Big Sky and they really enjoyed it. It is a great place to make a meal out of salads, appetizers or entrees. Some people enjoy smaller portions and they are not pushy with ordering entrees. Their menu is composed of classic dishes, as well as some little twists but nothing that will scare the older folks off. I highly recommend this place for the quality of the food and service.

Big Skye Cafe has some of the best food in Webster Groves! Their service is fantastic, wine list is wonderful, and the food - to die for! Even their side dish are delicious - I highly recommend the asparagus with their house sauce. So good! Their menu is also constantly changing to compliment the seasons - so every time you go you will be able to experience something new.

My boyfriend and I ate at the Big Skye Cafe last night. We sat outside, and it turned out to be beautiful & cool summer night. I can't accurately describe the noise level of the place partly because we sat outside, and partly because of the two Missouri American Water trucks digging up the street right in front of the patio. But even that didn't put too much of a damper on the ambiance. To start, we had the Chanterelle Mishroom Bruschetta at the recommendation of our server and it was soooooooo good. It was one long piece of baguette topped with mushrooms, parmesan, tomatoes, and a butter sauce. The sauce was so yummy I wished there was an entree featuring it. As an entree I had the Grilled Yellowfin Tuna also at the recommendation of the server. It was done in an "asian" style with mushroom sesame linguine. The linguine definitely had a little bit of a kick. The tuna was done perfectly, and it was very good, but it absolutely was out of its league compared to.... ...the Big Sky Seafood Cioppino! HOLY MOSES! The Cioppino was unbelievably good. If you like seafood, I would definitely recommend this dish. Perfect. Lastly, I had the Grande Tito martini, and I wished I hadn't the vodka itself was really clean and smooth, but the blue cheese olives were kind of gross. They tasted almost medicinal, not good. Overall, I will definitely be back!

I left Big Sky having to undo my pants. Ok, not seriously (I was wearing a dress), but you get the idea. I had to try EVERYTHING. I was dining with a big group and we ordered several small plates (Calamari, Goat Cheese Pizza, Egg Plant Roll-Up, Crab Cakes) which were all gone in about 3 minutes. The Crab Cakes I remember being extremely flavorful and almost melted in my mouth, they were so good. The Goat Cheese pizza came out warm and gooey and I just devoured it before it hit my plate. 2 martinis later, my Mahi Mahi came out over a mix of black beans and a side of slaw. Absolutely mouth watering and all of the flavors mixed together so perfectly. I can't wait to go back and try more things on the menu. Other things that looked (and smelled) wonderful on the table: Vegetable Risotto, Beef tenderloin, and the rainbow trout. Next time, I'm trying the sea scallops... I'm hungry just thinking about it!

This is one of the best restaurants I've been to in St. Louis. It's quiet and kind of romantic. We enjoyed a delicious dinner al fresco and the service couldn't have been better. I'm really in love with their cheddar cheese macaroni and the sweet potato mash is unbelievable as well.

This cafe reminds me of one you would find in Seattle, where foodies revel in fresh, local ingredients, an ever-changing menu, and absolute culinary genius. We started with the kale chips, which are either flash fried or baked (I forgot to ask), and come out crispy with a slight tang of citrus and sprinkle of parm. They were the tastiest way I have ever had kale before. I had the pot roast, which I found myself oohing over with every last bite! The meat was so tender, the sauce rich with subtle hints of wine and herbs, and it is served over a bed of heavenly mashed potatoes. Other people in our party had the pork shoulder with a cider glaze, and it was hard to say which of the dishes was better out of those two. We finished with the chocolate bread pudding and apple pecan pie- heavenly! As much as I love Harvest, Big Sky Cafe is just as inventive and delicious and at about half the price. Such a perfect place for date night or a casual dinner with friends or relatives in a laid back and welcoming atmosphere.

When I went to Webster U I'd drive by this restaurant and think it looked so cute. But I never managed to get in to eat until I moved away and came back for a visit. It was delicious! It was a little more casual on the inside than I expected--but not in a bad way, just in a homey comfortable way. Our server was great--there when we needed her but not hovering over us all evening. The food was fantastic. I'd been to a few restaurants around the area and I have to confess that a lot of dishes seemed to be lacking in flavor at other places but here they were perfect. I will certainly go again.

Great spot (now open for lunch too) tucked away on the ground floor of a residential building, almost out of sight as Old Orchard curves around. Been here for dinner several times over several years - food is always attractively presented, fresh, and tasty. Nothing too edgy here, sort of upscale comfort food. I like the space, it's quiet, art-filled and cozy. Recommended.

I love Big Sky Cafe. It is one of our favorites in St. Louis. The food is always amazing, and there are always so many great options to choose from. Great food and service. I had the filet with green peppercorn sauce. The steak was cooked perfectly. I was concerned that the peppercorn sauce would be overpowering but it wasn't. It was light and added just the right amount f flavor to compliment the beef. The restaurant is small and has a cozy feel to it. If you're looking for a romantic dinner or just a relaxing evening with friends this is the place for you.

The food at Big Sky Cafe is so wonderful that I find myself often craving their cuisine. They have traditional dishes and delightful dishes, which oddly work together to create something quite beautiful. I love their spinach, endive and fig salad as it is simply heaven on a plate. The melding of these flavors will make even the worst days very manageable. The pistachio scallops are fabulous as well. Just imagine the taste of pistachios melding with the taste of scallops, the crunch of the pistachios adding an unexpected element to the dish. The steaks are great as well, and it doesn't matter which you get. The prices are so cheap and the quality of the ingredients are so good that I really am perplexed. Meals here are consistently superb. Oh, and if you want to experiment a bit, get the beet plate!

My boyfriend and I go here once in a while for dates. We have always had great service. Their wine menu is very good as well. I've had the artichoke dip which I absolutely love. I've also had the Mac and Cheese which is the best Mac and Cheese I've ever had. Their spinach, endive and roasted fig salad is one of my favorite salads of all time. I actually have to force myself to not get it every time I go. Most recently I had their roasted chicken breas in a puff pastry which I also thought was great, not as amazing as the other dishes I have but still great. I forget all the meals my boyfriend has had here but he's loved them all. Definitely a place you need to check out. They really take classic American meals and re-invent them.

Had dinner here last evening. Menu was very appealing and service was great with the exception of how our concern on the dessert was handled. Would have been a wonderful meal with higher rating but for the dessert. Ordered the bittersweet bread pudding which was very disappointing. It really should have never made it out of the kitchen. It was obviously prepared much earlier, was burnt on top and sides and served cool or room temperature. We reported this to the waiter and he only offered to bring something else out. It remained on the bill.

So, this is my first review and I'm so excited/nervous that my vision is blurring, hands clamming... Okay, to start, Big Sky has a wonderful atmosphere. Cozy but up-ish scale feel. I thought it would be bigger inside. I really liked the design/interior look and, by that I mean that it was very pleasant/comfortable-- neither too fancy or gaudy nor bar n grill-y. I'd love to go back in warmer weather and sit out on the patio. The outdoor area is pretty big and looked appealing. BSC menu was small (you can find it's one page menu online) but broad enough to touch anyone's palate. I had a bite of my friend, Lindsay's mac n cheese. It was pretty good but didn't make my toes curl like her. I had the small plate flight--a salad (okay but nothing special), seared scallops(fresh and perfectly cooked but no WOW), and a cold dish of layered crab, avocado, and roasted red bell peppers. That dish was good but honestly fell short. It looked and sounded better than it tasted. I would give the food a solid "B". Unfortunately, the service was not as good. Our waitress, Julie, was a very nice girl but forgot my wine order until I had to remind her ,which was a good 6-7 minutes after our food came out. It wasn't that busy and it took her WAY too long to check on us after our meal arrived. Also, when one of us asked for a sharper knife to cut her pot roast...SHARPER KNIFE?!... POT ROAST!?! In my opinion she should have taken the pot roast back instead of trying to find a sharper knife. Also, the glass of wine that was really , really late was still on my bill! Again, she was really nice and I hate to judge her on one dining experience but the service was not that good. I used to wait tables so I want to give her the benefit of the doubt., but it wasn't just one thing. I hope this review doesn't seem too negative because, overall, I rather liked the place. I want to go back and give it another go. Good eating everyone Jeff

It feels like going home. Well if home is a comfortable, sophisticated little restaurant with fabulous homey food. Always great. Big Sky has a seasonal menu using the freshest of ingredients. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and efficient. A trip to Big Sky is not complete without sharing a small plate of mac and cheese. This is no Kraft mac and cheese- but smoked bacon, fresh sage and cornbread bread crumbs- AMAZING!

I love to stop by the Big Sky Cafe on my way to the Reparatory theatre and have one of their small plates. I love the cheese plate and the salads. Sometime we stop by Big Sky again after the play for more small plates. (We like to eat. Don't judge.) I've been here for dinner, too, and I cannot recommend the Missouri Trout enough. The prices here are amazing for the portions and the food really is delicious.

haven't been here for a while until a couple weeks ago. had calamari as app. greasy but not rubbery. should change batter as it absorbs too much grease. nice red wine flight. also had the pork shoulder. great flavor but really, really think the big globs of fat could/should be removed. service very nice. they have done better and can again. i'll give them the opportunity. could have been an off night.

Big Sky is our default, go-to place for great food in a romantic atmosphere. Try the mac and cheese for sure!

I used to be a regular at the Blue Water Grill in Kirkwood, which is a sister restaurant. So when some longtime friends who I had not seen in a long time were coming in town to have dinner with us, we chose the Big Sky Cafe. It was absolutely perfect and we could not have asked for a better night. It was more than dinner it was an experience. Starting with service, our waitress, Julie, was absolutley delightful and knowledgeable. The atmostphere makes for the perfect date place. It is unique and cozy. The drink list was perfect. I was always a fan of the wine flights, so we stuck with those. The menu is what I LOVED!! There are so many great combinations on the menu and so many great creations using incredible ingredients. We got the small plate flight. You get a soup or salad, and 2 different small plates. A little taste of everything. Then we finished with the chocolate enchilada. I will definitely be back many many times!!

Nestled in a quite corner off of the busy main thoroughfares of Webster Groves you will find one of the most imaginative and delightful restaurants in St. Louis. By mixing unique flavors and textures, the menu at Big Sky Cafe continues to impress me with its wonderfully prepared and presented small plates, larger plates and desserts! Big Sky is a subsidiary/member of the Great Restaurants chain (which also includes Remy's and Blue Water Grill) and truly lives up to the "great restaurant" moniker.

A truly unique restaurant. I guess I would call the food American but that somehow seems to sell it short. The selections are varied and tantalizing. They are organized as small plates (think Tapas) and large plates (regular entrees). One of the cool things they have are the wine flights, each flight is a series of three different wines that are similar in style but all unique and delicious in their own way. They have some outside dining in addition to the nicely appointed indoor dining room. Service is warm and inviting. The crowd is lively and sophisticated. The prices are surprisingly low given the quality of the food.
